To hook up, follow the below steps

How to Hook up Automatic Pool Vacuum

Turn the pump of your pool and all the electrical components off.

  1. After doing so, go to the filter of your pool. Most of the filtration systems have options like – vacuum, cleaning, etc. You’ll have to enable “vacuum,” “pump to waste,” or “cleaning”, whichever option is present on your pool’s filter.
  2. To make the vacuum process easy and faster, start by removing all the visible large debris off your pool. You can make use of a net for this purpose. After this, scrub the sides of the pool to get rid of the debris stuck there.
  3. You’ll find skimmers at the top of your pool. These are small openings that collect the leaves and debris that float on the pool’s surface. Empty these skimmers and close them. But leave one of them open (the one that’s closest to the pump).
  4. If your pool has rubber plugs to close skimmers, then close the skimmers using them.
  5. Now is the time to pay attention to the hose. The hose should be large enough to reach every part of the pool and not cause any problem further. Assemble is following the instructions given in the manual and submerge it into the pool.
  6. After this, you need to determine which part of the hose is to be connected to the pool. It is usually either the skimmer, filter or a dedicated suction port. To hook up your hose to the skimmer, attach the end of the hose to the adapter with the unthreaded side on the end. Tightly fit it into the skimmer. When the hose is to be hooked to the filter, start by inspecting your sand filter. You need to look for a cap that is labelled “return.” After spotting it, you’ll have to unscrew this cap. Now is the time to screw your hose into it. To hook up your hose to the suction port, you’ll have to first inspect your filter. Look for a handle on top of the valve. This is exactly where your filter pipe and water line meet. On finding it, twist the valve. This will open it and you can now screw your hose.
  7. Now place the vacuum in the water and connect the free end of your hose to it.
  8. Now comes the main task. After setting everything in place, turn on the pool pump. This sets the vacuum in action and you’ll see scrubbing activity being performed with ease. However, while this goes on, you’ll have to ensure that the canister is either on the vacuum itself, or a length of hose near your vacuum. You cannot let it function without paying attention to whether it is clogged or not. Make sure that the canister is unclogged.
  9. After you are done cleaning the entire pool, you’ll have to disassemble the vacuum. You’ll have to loosen the hose connection and dump out the water collected separately.
  10. Lastly, reopen the skimmers and change the filter settings back to what they originally were.
